Rev. Heather Sims

It is with great joy and excitement that the Christ Church Transition Team announces the arrival of Reverend Heather Sims as our new Senior Pastor.   Rev. Sims brings with her a wealth of experience, a servant’s heart, and a deep commitment to prayer, preaching, worship, mission, and relational discipleship.  We are confident that her leadership will guide, equip, and counsel our congregation as we journey into the future together.

Rev. Sims is a faithful servant of Christ, entrusted with stewarding God’s word for over 20 years in pastoral ministry.  Her dedication to authentic leadership, meeting the community’s spiritual needs, and advancing the Kingdom of God beyond the church walls is evident in her extensive experience serving churches in the Houston area.  Currently serving as Lead Pastor at Cornerstone Methodist Church in Northwest Houston, Rev. Sims has also ministered at Foundry, Fairbanks UMC, Chapelwood UMC, Springwoods UMC, and Faith Methodist in Richmond.

Rev. Sims also served on the planning team to create the new Trinity Conference of the Global Methodist Church and continues to serve on the Connectional Council of the conference as the chair of the Personnel Committee.

She holds a Master of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary and is pursuing a Doctor of Ministry from Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University.  Additionally, Reverend Sims earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development from Texas Tech University.

Heather and her husband, Jonathan, share a calling to ministry and are both ordained Elders in the Global Methodist Church. While Jonathan is employed full-time with Energy Transfer, we warmly welcome him to our clergy team. The Sims are proud parents to three remarkable young men: Noah, 22, Daniel, 20, and Michael, 17. They also extend their love to three Golden Retrievers who are cherished members of their family.

With a deep-rooted commitment to Christ’s teachings and a Wesleyan theology centered on the love of God and neighbor, Rev. Sims will lead us with wisdom and grace beginning Sunday, June 2, 2024.

Christ Church, let us welcome Reverend Heather Sims and her family with open hearts and eager minds as we continue the good work God has begun in us.  We invite you to join us for a special welcome celebration with Pastor Sims and her family after both services on June 2nd, in the Commons, for refreshments and fellowship.

Together, let us pray for deepening faith, strengthening fellowship, and the furthering of God’s kingdom under Reverend Sims’ leadership.

Blessings,

Christ Church Transition Team
