CONFIRMATION IS . . .

Confirmation has been a Christian practice going back to the early church in the Book of Acts. Confirmation is a big step in your child’s personal faith journey, readying him or her for a life of discipleship and Christian service.

Our Confirmation program prepares students 6th grade and up to claim the Christian faith as his or her own. Confirmation is the public confirming of one’s faith in Jesus Christ. Biblically, confirmation follows baptism; therefore, there will be an opportunity for any confirmands who have not yet been baptized to be baptized at the time of Confirmation.

Confirmation and the Christian Faith is a family commitment as well. As a family we encourage you to worship together at 8:30 or 11. We have several opportunities for your family to serve together. Confirmands can miss up to 3 classes.

DECISION, MEMBERSHIP, BAPTISM

If students decide they want to follow Jesus and be a part of the faith-community, this commitment is celebrated at a Sunday service and is expressed by the laying on of hands by the pastors and the students becoming full members of the church. The Sacrament of Baptism will be either administered or “remembered” prior to the confirmation vows. Students may take the classes and choose not to be confirmed.
